Pawtucket Red Sox News Release

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Gwinnett Stripers connected on two more home runs and topped the Pawtucket Red Sox, 4-1, in Sunday's series finale at Coolray Field.

In total, the Stripers (21-16) drilled nine home runs and swept the three-game series from the PawSox (13-21), who have played 13 of their last 15 games on the road and will finally head home for a homestand that begins Tuesday at McCoy Stadium.

Jantzen Witte went 3-for-4 with an RBI double, improved his Triple-A OPS to .810 and extended his hitting streak to six games (the entirety of the road trip) - a stretch during which he's 11-for-25 with four extra-base hits, four walks and only two strikeouts.

Sam Travis (2-for-4) singled twice to lengthen his hitting streak to eight games (14-for-34 with five extra-base hits) and raise his Triple-A OPS to .770. Josh Tobias (2-for-4) collected his first career multi-hit game in Triple-A and has now hit safely in 10 straight games.

PawSox starter Teddy Stankiewicz (L, 1-2) ceded two earned runs (three total) in four-plus innings in which he allowed six hits and walked two with one strikeout. Jeremy Bleich worked out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the fifth to begin his two-inning stint, then Bobby Poyner struck out the side in a scoreless seventh by leaning heavily on a fastball that touched 91 MPH multiple times. Atlanta-area native and former Georgia Tech standout reliever Matthew Gorst worked a 1-2-3 eighth.

Gwinnett starter Andres Santiago (W, 2-2) fired six shutout innings, and Rafael De Paula (S, 3) struck out two in a 1-2-3 ninth.

Following their six-game road trip and Monday's scheduled off day, the PawSox will crack open a homestand Tuesday at McCoy Stadium at 6:05 p.m. against the Columbus Clippers (Cleveland Indians). Pawtucket right-hander Erasmo Ramírez is scheduled to oppose Clippers righty Asher Wojciechowski (3-1, 1.97). Radio coverage on WHJJ (920 AM and 104.7 FM) and throughout the PawSox Radio Network begins with the pre-game show at 5:35 p.m.

The homestand runs Tuesday through Sunday. Good tickets are available, and fans can visit the McCoy Stadium box office, which is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m., and during all home games. Fans can also call (401) 724-7300 or log on to PawSox.com for tickets.
