LOUISVILLE, KY - In a game called after five and a half innings because of thunderstorms in the area, the Louisville Bats (41-42) squeaked by the Gwinnett Braves (37-47) by a 2-1 score on Sunday night at Louisville Slugger Field.

The G-Braves opened the scoring in the top of the fourth against Louisville starter Daniel Wright. Daniel Castro, in his first game off the disabled list, singled to right and moved to second on a walk to Reid Brignac. Anthony Recker hit into a force play at third base for the first out, but Rio Ruiz followed with a single to center, scoring Brignac from second for a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Bats would take the lead against Gwinnett starting pitcher Chris Ellis. With one out, Scott Schebler doubled to right and scored on a single to center by Steve Selsky, tying the game a 1-1. Selsky, who moved to second on the throw, later scored on a two-out single to left by Kyle Waldrop, making it 2-1 Louisville.

In the middle of the sixth and after about an hour and 24 minutes of play, heavy storms put the game into a rain delay. After a 47-minute delay, the game was unable to be resumed.

Ellis (L, 0-3) went the entire 5.0 innings in the loss. He gave up two earned runs on seven hits, walked one and struck out five.

Wright (W, 1-3) pitched 6.0 innings with three hits, one earned run, two walks and three strikeouts for the Bats.

At the plate for the G-Braves, Castro was 2-for-3 and Ruiz was 1-for-2 with an RBI.

For the Bats, Tony Renda was 2-for-3 with a double. Selsky was 1-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI.
