Norfolk Tides News Release

Christian Walker's RBI single was the lone offensive highlight for Norfolk as the Tides dropped a 4-1 decision to the Durham Bulls Sunday evening at Harbor Park.

Walker got the Tides on the board in the first inning with a two-out single to right field that plated Xavier Avery, who had led off the game with a single. Walker has now hit safely in four of his last five games, batting .389 (7-18) with two doubles and an RBI over that stretch.

The early run was the only damage the Tides could muster against three Durham pitchers, as Norfolk saw its three-game win streak snapped. Austin Pruitt (7-5) got the win for the Bulls after allowing just four hits without walking a batter and striking out five over 7.1 strong innings. After Steve Geltz recorded two strikeouts in the eighth, Dylan Floro worked a scoreless ninth to earn his seventh save of the season.

Norfolk starter Nick Additon (1-9) suffered the loss after yielding three runs on six hits over 4.0 innings. He walked two and struck out five while throwing 47 of his 77 pitches for strikes, but yielded solo homers to Jake Goebbert and Jaff Decker as he dropped his eighth consecutive decision.

Despite his 1-9 record, Additon leads qualifying Tides pitchers with a 3.58 ERA.

The Tides head to Gwinnett Monday to start a three-game series with the division rival Braves. David Hale (0-4, 5.86) is slated to come off the disabled list and start for Norfolk, with Gwinnett countering with right-hander Aaron Blair (3-1, 2.57). First pitch is set for 7:05.

Notes: Prior to Sunday's game, Baltimore purchased the contract of LHP Ariel Miranda and optioned RHP Tyler Wilson to Norfolk. To make room for Miranda on the 40-man roster, LHP Brian Duensing was transferred to the 60-day disabled list...In his first multi-inning appearance with Norfolk this season, Oliver Drake struck out five and issued one walk over two shutout innings...Durham's win snapped Norfolk's seven-game winning streak over the Bulls at Harbor Park.
