Louisville Bats News Release

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - In the final game of the four-game series against the Gwinnett Braves at Louisville Slugger Field, the Louisville Bats evened the series 2-2 with a win, 2-1, in a rain-shortened game. This pushes their four- and five-game series record to 0-6-2 this season.

The Braves plated their only run in the top of the fourth inning, while the Bats trumped that run total in the bottom half, courteous of RBIs from right fielder Steve Selsky and left fielder Kyle Waldrop, handing the loss to right-handed pitcher Chris Ellis (0-3, 8.16) after five innings of work, allowing seven hits, walking one, and striking out five.

Right-handed pitcher Daniel Wright (2-3, 5.18) secured his first victory since May 16 against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, breaking a three-game losing streak, after six innings of three-hit baseball. He allowed just one earned run while walking two and striking out three on 85 pitches, 53 strikes. He is credited with a complete game, his second for Louisville this season.

Tomorrow, the Bats make the trip to Indianapolis on the Fourth of July to take on the Indians in the first of a three-game series. Bats left-handed pitcher Amir Garrett (0-1, 2.13) will man the rubber against Indianapolis right-hander Frank Duncan (5-3, 2.42), slated for a 6:05 pm start.
