Gurtler Scores Hat Trick As Havoc Wins

HUNTSVILLE, AL - A hat trick by Mike Gurtler was the highlight in Havoc's 4-2 win against the Knoxville Ice Bears.

Gurtler notched his first tally 8:39 into the first period. He then added goals at 11:37 into the third and at 19:48 into the third.

The Huntsville Havoc put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Knoxville to score on any of its three power plays.

Huntsville also got a goal from Ray Ortiz as well. More assists for Huntsville came via Leland Fidler, Dominic Osman, Justin Cseter, Justin Fox, and Josh Harris, who each chipped in one.

By firing 30 shots on goal, the Ice Bears exceeded the 26.3 shots they average per game this year.

Knoxville was helped by Brett Valliquette, who tallied one goal. Valliquette scored 15:41 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Cody Dion picked up the assist. Eric Satim also scored for Knoxville. In addition, Knoxville received assists from Mark Van Vliet, who had one.

Jesse Kallechy rejected 28 shots on goal for Huntsville. The Havoc totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 1-for-3 on the power play. The Ice Bears' Bryan Hince stopped 21 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Knoxville ended with 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors.
