Ice Bears Falter at Home

Knoxville Ice Bears News Release

Knoxville, TN - (November 21, 2013) The Fayetteville Fireantz arrived late to the SPHL party Thursday night at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum. The traveling team's bus malfunctioned, causing an hour and 27-minute delay and pulled out with the victory.

Fayetteville stole the show with a third period game-winning goal from Nick Craven to defeat the Knoxville Ice Bears 2-1.

Knoxville came out and jumped on the board early. At the 9:12 mark of the first period, Phil Bronner's centering pass to Eric Satim gave the Ice Bears an early 1-0 advantage. It was Satim's second goal in two games.

Fayetteville answered in the second at 9:32 when Fireantz center Derek Elliott redirected a Mike Kavanagh shot, beating Knoxville goalie Brian Hince to tie the game at 1-1.

After Craven's goal in the third, the Ice Bears were just not able to rally. They outshot the Fireantz 11-3 in last stanza, but were not unable to beat former Knoxville goaltender Peter Skoggard.

Skoggard finished the game with 25 saves.

Knoxville's next home will on November 29th at 7:35 p.m. against the Fireantz for Wiener Dog Races. There is still opportunity to register your dog for the race by calling the Knoxville Ice Bears office at 865-525-7825. To purchase tickets call 865-656-4444 or visit www.knoxvilletickets.com.
