Bloomington Thunder News Release

LAFAYETTE, La. - The Bloomington Thunder ended a two-game winning streak as the Louisiana IceGators earned revenge for both of last week's losses to Bloomington with a 4-2 triumph on Friday night at the Cajundome.

Louisiana scored off of a turnover in front of the net on a Bret Peppler tally with 17:23 left in the opening frame, then took a 2-0 advantage on a power play goal with 10:47 left when a drive by Jason Cohen from the slot was deflected in by Jeremy Boyer.

The Thunder used a power play to cut the margin to 2-1 on a Kyle Watson redirect of a Kevin Walrod drive from the right point with 10:34 remaining in the middle period with that score holding until the second intermission.

The Gators pushed the margin back to two goals with just 1:32 gone in the third period on a blast from the slot by Jeff Grant for a 3-1 lead. The Thunder closed to within a goal with a Walrod top shelf drive with 11:00 remaining, but the Gators sealed the victory with an empty net goal from Grant with 9.9 seconds showing.

The IceGators outshot the Thunder 38-27 with Max Strang taking the loss in goal with 34 saves while Matt Zenzola stopped 25 shots in the win. The Thunder were 1-for-4 on the power play while the Gators converted one of their seven chances.
