San Diego Gulls News Release
San Diego fell for only the second time in the last 10 games following a 4-2 loss to the Stockton Heat at Stockton Arena Sunday evening.
Corey Tropp scored his 38th career goal (shorthanded goal) for San Diego to set the all-time club record for goals to surpass to pass Antoine Laganiere (37). Tropp's 12th goal of the season earned him 38-56" points in 107 games with San Diego, setting the franchise record in 14 fewer contests than Laganiere's 121 games with the club. On Feb. 3, Tropp passed current Anaheim Ducks defenseman Brandon Montour for the franchise's all-time scoring record when he tallied his 90th point for the Gulls.
Sam Carrick extended his point streak to a season-tying four games (3-4=7) with his 21st assist of the season. Carrick also had a four-game point streak (1-3=4) from Nov. 24-Dec. 5, 2017. Carrick has recorded 11 points (4-7=11) in his last eight games and 5-17=22 points in his last 20 contests.
Alex Dostie scored his third goal of the season and first since Oct. 27 at Texas.
Steven Oleksy earned 10th assist of the season and now has 2-7=9 points in his last 10 games. Keaton Thompson also tallied an assist and has now collected 1-5=6 points in his last six contests.
Kevin Boyle made 29 saves in his first loss since Jan. 20 to end his career high six-game win streak. Despite the setback, Boyle has posted an 11-3-0 record with a 2.05 goals-against average (GAA) and .942 save percentage (SV%) in his last 14 appearances.
POSTGAME QUOTES

Corey Tropp
On the game
It's on us. The coaching staff did their job. They give us the game plan and for some reason we didn't start the game on time. We preached that all day. It's disappointing.
On setting the club record with his 38th goal
We got a fast break there, a 2-on-1. I just slid it over to Sammy (Sam Carrick) and he made a great play to slide it back and we scored. It gave us a chance but you are not going to have success in this league if you don't start. For some reason we didn't have it tonight and we have got to figure that out. The games are not any easier the rest of the way. We are playing playoff games every night so we have got to figure it out and find it quickly.
On the power play
You have got to capitalize. Special teams win games and we didn't get the job done. Each guy on that power play has got to take a look in the mirror and realize that we might only get one a night the rest of the way and we have got to be ready to score. You can talk about chances, but you don't get paid for chances. We have got to be ready to score. We had some great looks but we didn't get the job done. We fell a little short.
Head Coach Dallas Eakins
On the slow start
It was a real kick in the (rear). We talked about it before the game about the way they start and we need to be ready about it. We talked about our reloads, getting on top of the puck quickly, their D joining the play and that is exactly how the first goal was scored. That is a little troubling when that happens.
On the comeback attempt
Our backs are up against the wall and I did like our fight then. The thing that we have got to understand is every minute in the game is a critical one. We can't just suddenly go, 'OK we are going to really start trying now.' We need to do that when the puck is dropped. Our lineup is disrupted by losing some players the last few week, but it gives opportunity. Guys getting the opportunity need to up their games so they can stay a part of the lineup.
On younger players needing to step in to the lineup
They have been here all year. They have worked hard at their game. Now they need to trust themselves and go play.
