Dayton Dragons News Release

Lansing, Mich.-Ismael Guillon fired six no-hit innings and Daniel Pigott drove in four runs to lead the Dayton Dragons to a 6-1 victory over the Lansing Lugnuts on Saturday. The Lugnuts picked up their only hit in the eighth inning as Guillon and two relievers combined on a dominant performance. The Dragons improved to 34-28 in the second half. The Dragons remained two and one-half games out of the wildcard slot with eight games to play.

Guillon (6-8) allowed just one base runner over his first six innings, a fourth inning walk. He reached his pitch limit in the bottom of the seventh after walking the first two batters in that inning. He was credited with the win as he walked three and struck out three without allowing a hit or a run. Wandy Peralta worked out of a bases loaded jam in the seventh without allowing a hit, but gave up a lead-off home run to Lansing's Daniel Klein in the eighth that turned out to be Lansing's only hit of the game.

The Dragons scored two runs in the top of the first inning to take an early lead. With two outs and the bases empty, Sammy Diaz was hit by a pitch and Seth Mejias-Brean walked. Pigott then blasted a double high off the right field fence to drive in both runners and give the Dragons a 2-0 lead.

In the third, Beau Amaral led off with a triple past the center fielder, and Tanner Rahier followed with a sacrifice fly to center to bring in Amaral and make it 3-0.

The Dragons added three more runs in the sixth to take a commanding lead. Diaz and Mejias-Brean both singled to start the inning before Pigott again doubled to right to drive in two and make it 5-0. Pigott eventually scored on Jeff Gelalich's single up the middle to make it 6-0.

The Dragons collected eight hits. Pigott's two-hit, four RBI night highlighted the attack. Diaz had a hit and a walk to extend his hitting streak to eight straight games.

The Dragons meet the Lugnuts in the second game of a three-game series on Sunday at 2:05 p.m. Nick Travieso (7-4, 5.22) will start for Dayton against Lansing's Daniel Norris (1-7, 4.30). All Dragons games can be heard on WONE Radio (980 AM) and via the internet at daytondragons.com and wone.com.
