
Guggenberger Selected as All-Star Reserve

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (December 29) - Texas Brahmas goaltender Mark Guggenberger has been selected as a reserve to the 2012 Central Hockey League All-Star Team. The All-Star Game will be played at Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley, Arizona on Wednesday, January 11 when the hosting Arizona Sundogs will face off against a collection of the league's top performers this season. The CHL announced the All-Star reserves on Thursday.
Guggenberger is 8-3-2 with a .919 save percentage in 14 games this season, and his 2.26 goals against average is best in the CHL.
Last season, the Richfield, Minnesota native played for the University of Prince Edward Island, where he was under the tutelage of former Brahmas assistant coach Forbes MacPherson. Previously, he spent three season playing major juniors in the Western Hockey League. At the age of 19, Guggenberger went 17-3-3 with a 2.02 as a member of the 2008-09 WHL champion Kelowna Rockets.
Guggenberger is one of just three rookies to be honored with an All-Star selection this season. Tulsa Oilers defenseman Jeff Terminesi and Missouri Mavericks forward Andrew Courtney were also selected to the team.
Nick Boucher of the Fort Wayne Komets was voted in as the starting goaltender for the All-Stars by a committee consisting of the CHL head coaches, CHL communications representatives and selected members of the media. Guggenberger, along with Allen Americans netminder Marco Cousineau, was selected as a reserve by head coach of the All-Star Team Dwight Mullins and the CHL's Hockey Operations Department.
The Brahmas are back in action at the NYTEX Sports Centre on Sunday, January 15 when they take on the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees at 5:00pm.
