Rapid City Rush News Release

(Rapid City, SD) - The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that Rush defenseman Riley Weselowski has been selected to the 2012 CHL All-Star team. The announcement comes one day after Rush forward Jesse Schultz was named a starter for the game scheduled for Wednesday, January 11, 2012. The contests will take place in Prescott Valley, Arizona at Tim's Toyota Center and for the fourth straight season, the game will have a format that will feature the home team (Arizona Sundogs) taking on a team of CHL All-Stars.

Weselowski currently ranks seventh among CHL defenseman in scoring, totaling 17 points (5g, 12a) through 27 games. The Pilot Mound, Manitoba native currently leads all Rush defenseman and is well on his way to setting career highs in every major statistical category.

"I've been fortunate this year to be put in some offensive situations with some very good players that give me an opportunity to take on a more offensive role," said Weselowski. "Obviously it's a huge honor to be selected to the All-Star Game, and I feel it's a reflection of the team as a whole. Cleary, there's going to be some great talent down there in Prescott Valley and I'm excited to get down there and be a part of it."

The fourth-year pro will be making his second consecutive appearance in a CHL All-Star Game, skating for the Rush in last year's mid-season event which was held in Rapid City. The 26-year old is serving as an alternate captain for the second straight year, and last season led all Rush d-men with a plus-20 rating.

"It's great to see Riley get selected as reserve for this year's All-Star Game," said Rush Head Coach Joe Ferras. "It's good to see him get recognized for all of the hard he has put in, not just this season, but since coming to Rapid. With the injuries we've had, he's been asked to contribute on both sides of the ice and log a ton of minutes, and he has responded with tremendous first half. The entire Rush organization is very proud of both Riley and Jesse and those two will not only represent the Rush, but the entire CHL as first class individuals."

The reserves were selected by the CHL All-Star Head Coach Dwight Mullins (Allen Americans) in conjunction with the CHL Hockey Operations Department.
