December 29, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Evansville IceMen News Release
EVANSVILLE, IN.--- When the Central Hockey League presents its annual CHL All-Star Game, Wednesday, January 11, 2011 in Prescott Valley, Arizona, the second place Evansville IceMen of the league's Turner Conference alliance will have two representatives in the league All-Star team lineup to face-off against the host team Arizona Sundogs.
On this date, the Central Hockey League, in conjunction with the IceMen, has announced that center TODD ROBINSON and defenseman MATT GENS have been named to represent the Evansville delegation for the league's annual mid-season classic.
ROBINSON, 33, is in his 13th pro season and his first clad in the IceMen coat of arms. Thus far this season, the Trail, B.C. native has emerged prominently and dominantly as his team's premiere point producer, ranking 8th in the league's overall scoring derby. Playing in all 24 of his club's games thus far this season, "T. Rob" has averaged well over a point a game with 33-points on 7-goals, 26-assists. His 26-assists tie him for second circuit most while his 15-PPA rank the best of the rest in the loop.
GENS, 28, is currently in his 6th pro campaign. It is also his initial tour of duty under the employ of the Evansville pro hockey seal. The former St. Cloud State standout has surged royally and regally to #5 in the CHL in scoring among defensemen, collecting 18-points in 24-outings on 6-goals, 12-assists. The product of Baudette, MN tops the CHL in GWG among this year's blue line brigade with 3. Moreover, his +6 rating ties him for the IceMen team leadership in that critical department.
Both Robinson and Gens will be in the CHL All-Stars' lineup when the host team Arizona Sundogs clash with this year's star-studded cast in the league's annual All-Star Game.
Meanwhile, this weekend, the IceMen continue their extended 6-game holiday hometand at the Ford Center where they will rekindle animosities with their principal archrivals, the Fort Wayne Komets in a 7:15 duel this Friday night, December 30th on "Hog Night." The following night, the IceMen will ring in the New Year, New Year's Eve, Saturday, December 31st, also at 7:15 when they engage in on-ice combat with the Wichita Thunder. All lower bowl seats on this special night will be discounted for only $12.
