Dayton Gems Brett Lutes Named to 2012 CHL All Star Team

Dayton, OH - The Dayton Gems professional hockey team is excited to announce that forward Brett Lutes has been named to the Central Hockey League All Star Team as a reserve and will represent the Gem City at the CHL All Star Game on January 11 inside Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley, Arizona.

The 29 year old native of Riverview, New Brunswick is entering his second season with the Gems and leads the team in points scored with an impressive 33 (8G, 25A) in just 23 games played. In his first season with Dayton, Lutes recorded 47 points off of 19 goals and 28 assists.

After being drafted in 2000 by the NHL's St. Louis Blues, Lutes joined the professional ranks in 2004 with the Bakersfield Condors in the ECHL. During his rookie campaign, Lutes racked up 37 points on 18 goals and 19 assists after playing in 66 games. He also scored three goals and an assist in five playoff games that season.

He will join the CHL All Star Team for his first professional midseason classic when they take on the CHL's Arizona Sundogs who are hosting the event for the first time on Wednesday, January 11.

The Gems return home on Thursday night, December 29 to host the Bloomington Blaze on Cassano's Italian Ice inside Hara Arena at 7pm. It's another "Thirsty Thursday" featuring select $1 drafts with the first 500 fans through the gates receiving a limited edition Gems player stadium cup.

Dayton's Biggest Family New Year's Eve Party is at Hara on Saturday, December 31 at 7pm when the Gems battle the Quad City Mallards on Cassano's Italian Ice. The first 500 fans through the gates will receive a Gems cowbell, while Buffalo Wild Wings Party Packs are still available for a limited time and include tickets to the game and a 50-wing party for just $50.
