Guerrero Jr. Blasts the Bisons to 5-4 Victory
April 24, 2019 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release
If Thursday in Syracuse was Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s final game with the Bisons, he certainly went out with a bang!
The most-discussed, most-celebrated player in minor league baseball added one more blast to the conversation, hitting and opposite-field home run in the seventh inning of the Bisons' 5-4 victory over the Mets on Thursday morning from NBT Bank Stadium.
Vladdy's home run, his third of the season with the Herd, came on a 2-0 pitch from Syracuse reliever, Tim Peterson. Given a fastball on the outer half of the plate, Guerrero Jr. drove the pitch well beyond the wall in right-centerfield and into the foliage around where the Mets keep their batting practice cage.

Vlad finished the game 2-for-5 in the game, adding a single to his productive day at the plate. His single came as part of a four-run fifth inning that gave Buffalo a 4-1 lead. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. singled home Roemon Fields to pull the Herd even in the game. Cavan Biggio then launched his third home run of the year to right field for the 4-1 advantage.

Biggio had a big game as well, going 3-for-4 on the day to raise his season average to .415.
Sean Reid-Foley started for the Bisons and struck out seven over 4.2 innings of work. He did walk five batters, including three in the fifth inning that allowed Syracuse to tie the game at 4-4.
Dusty Isaacs earned the win for the Bisons, striking out five in 2.1 innings of work. Derek Law stranded runners on second and third base in the bottom of the ninth inning to earn his first save with the Herd.
The Bisons will now play for the series split on Thursday afternoon with a 1:05 p.m. first pitch from NBT Bank Stadium.
