Kansas City Monarchs News Release

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Kansas City pitcher Dustin Loggins carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning, but a three-run inning helped push the Wichita Wingnuts to a 4-2 win and completed a four-game sweep of the T-Bones in front of 7,814 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark on Saturday night.

Kansas City broke the scoreless game with two unearned runs in the fifth off Wingnuts starter Junior Guerra (6-1). In the inning, Wichita committed three errors.

The Wingnuts struck back immediately in the top of the sixth. After Loggins (2-3) held Wichita hitless through five innings - with four walks and four strikeouts - the Wingnuts' bats came alive. Wichita smacked three singles and a double in the three-run inning.

Wichita's pitching staff, which struck out 11 T-Bones batters, held Kansas City scoreless for the remainder of the game, but its offense added some insurance. A John Rodriguez double followed by a single from CJ Ziegler, which scored Rodriguez, capped the scoring for the Wingnuts, who took a 4-2 lead.

After an off day Sunday, Kansas City (19-35) plays host to the Grand Prairie AirHogs (29-23) at 7:05 Monday night. Tickets are available by calling the Providence Medical Center Box Office at CommunityAmerica Ballpark at 913-328-5618 or at tbonesbaseball.com.
