Guenther Heads to Florida

Baton Rouge Kingfish News Release


The East Coast Hockey League announced today that Kingfish forward Joe Guenther has been named to the 2003 Compuware ECHL All-Star Game at the TECO Arena in Estero, Florida.

Guenther will represent the Kingfish in the Compuware All-Star game on January 21st while playing for the Southern Conference.

Guenther was acquired on November 25th off of waivers from the Toledo Storm. In four games with the Storm, He tallied four assists.

Since being acquired by the Kingfish, Guenther has tallied 6 goals and 7 assists for 13 points in 11 games. In addition, the West Seneca native has picked up two game-winning shootout goals for the Kingfish.

The 6'2", 225-pound rookie forward tallied 52 points in 49 games last season between the Erie Otters and Toronto St. Michael's Majors of the Ontario Hockey League.

The Kingfish continue their Northern Conference road trip as they battle the Rivermen in Peoria on Friday and Saturday at 7:00 p.m. before heading to Toledo to take on the Storm on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. for an afternoon tilt.
