Grrrowl Give Sweater Off Their Backs for Education

March 18, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Greenville Grrrowl News Release

Greenville, SC- The Greenville Grrrowl and South Carolina Education Lottery announced a partnership today whereby the Lottery will become the exclusive team jersey sponsor for the remainder of this current season and all of the 2003-04 season.

The Grrrowl welcomed the South Carolina Education Lottery as the team's first ever jersey sponsor in their five-year history. The Lottery's name and logo will adorn both the home and road sweaters, making their brand visible in every city the team travels, including South Carolina arenas in Charleston Columbia, and Florence.

"This is what the Lottery's Corporate Alliance program is all about," said South Carolina Education Lottery's Executive Director Ernie Passailaigue. "We hope the pioneering efforts of the Greenville Grrrowl will encourage other South Carolina Businesses to partner with the Lottery in funding education."

Since January 2002, the SCEL has transferred more than $201 million to the State Education Lottery Account.

As part of this agreement, the Grrrowl have agreed to donate funds up to $9,000 from their 2003-04 annual jersey auction in the form of two Palmetto Partner Educational Scholarships.

"This agreement helps everyone involved," commented Carl Scheer, Greenville Grrrowl CEO. "Of course, the Grrrowl benefit from the Lottery's support of pro hockey and the Lottery benefits from statewide exposure on the jersey, but most importantly, we are working together to fund two South Carolina students' pursuit of higher education."

In addition to the jersey sponsorship, The South Carolina Education Lottery will participate in one "Powerball themed" in-stand promotion each Grrrowl home game, and will receive signage and promotional consideration at Greenville Groove (NBDL) home games this and next season as well.

Tickets for all remaining regular season home games are available at the BI-LO Center Box Office and all TicketMaster outlets. Log onto www.grrrowl.com for more information.
