Grizzlies Work Overtime in San Antonio but Fall 3-2

San Antonio, TEXAS - The Utah Grizzlies (21-34-4-5) needed two points in San Antonio but had to settle for just one as their trip ends with a 2-4-0-2 record and the Grizzlies trailing both Cincinnati and San Antonio by four points. In the SBC Center Utah had two one goal leads but couldn't hold on to them as the Rampage came away with a 3-2 overtime victory.

Utah came out with a ton of jump in the first period and it was a jump by former Rampage player David Gove that led to the Grizzlies first goal. Gove drove the net and jumped over Brent Krahn while pushing the puck towards the net. Tim Wedderburn would come in and clean it up for his first goal of the season. Rob Valicevic and Gove would get the assisted on the goal by Gove one that saw him drive the ney and shovel the puck under San Antonio goaltender Brent Krahn while leaping over him. San Antonio outshot the Grizzlies 16-10 in the first period despite having the better of the quality scoring chances.

San Antonio would tie the game while shorthanded with Michel Periard setting up Greg Crozier who had snuck in behind Dan Ellis scoring his 10th goal of the season. Utah's Zenon Konopka would regain the lead for the Grizzlies by setting up in front of the goal and redirecting a Barrett Heisten shot past Krahn giving the grizzlies a 2-1 lead after two periods. San Antonio led on the shot board 28-25 after two period with Ellis making 27 saves.

In the third, San Antonio would tie the score at the 11:20 mark when Gregory Campbell would redirect a Josh Olson shot past Ellis for his 11th goal of the season. The game would remain tied earning each team a point but in overtime the Rampage would take the extra point when Lukas Krajicek would clean up a loose puck in front of Ellis for his fourth goal of the season and the victory for San Antonio who improves to 6-0-7 in overtime this year.

Ellis would drop to 2-8 making 36 saves in the game and Krahn would improve to 5-7-1 making 32 saves in the game.

Utah will head home for a big two-game set with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks who lead the Grizzlies by four points in the Western Division. Face-off for Wednesday's game is set for 7:05 at the 'E' Center.
