Bears rally but fall to Lock Monsters, 5-4, in Lowell

Brett Lysak scored the game winning goal at the 12:25 mark of the third period to give the Lock Monsters a 5-4 win over the BEARS at Tsongas Arena.

Lowell would score first midway through the first period when Lynn Loyns picked up a rebound and scored past Peter Budaj to give the Lock Monsters a 1-0 lead. The Monsters would extend the lead to 2-0 when Mike Zigomanis rang a puck off the crossbar and it fell into the goal for his 16th goal of the season. After building up a 2-0 lead after one period, Zigomanis would strike for his second goal of the game at the 2:01 mark of the second stanza to stake the Lock Monsters to a 3-0 lead.

HERSHEY made the long road back by going on a 14-2 shot run in the second period that turned into three straight goals. Steve Brule scored his 26th goal of the season at the 13:15 mark, Shane Willis followed with a goal at 14:40 before Gavin Morgan would tie the game at 3-3 at 15:57. Lowell would rally with a goal from defenseman Brad Fast at 17:01 of the second to stall the HERSHEY momentum, and the Lock Monsters went into second intermission with a 4-3 lead.

The BEARS would tie the score at four early in the third period when Gavin Morgan scored his second goal of the game and his eighth of the season. Lowell would notch the game-winning goal when Lysak scored his 16th of the season at the 12:25 mark of the third period.

Jordan Krestanovich was a healthy scratch for the second time in three games. Tom Lawson came on in relief of Peter Budaj at the 2:58 mark

The BEARS will host the Norfolk Admirals on Saturday night at GIANT Center at 7:00 p.m.
