
Grizzlies team up with Junior Giants for Glove Drive

FRESNO â The Fresno Grizzlies Community Fund in conjunction with the Junior Giants will hold a baseball glove drive Tuesday, May 25.
Those contributing new or used gloves will receive free admission vouchers to that evenings 7:05 contest between the Fresno Grizzlies and the Nashville Sounds. In addition anyone contributing will receive a Willie Mays Giants lapel pin courtesy of the San Francisco Giants Community Fund while supplies last.
Equipment donated will go to Junior Giants' Leagues of the Central Valley, including Clovis PAL, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Fresno County, Huron Boys and Girls Club, Madera PAL, City of Reedley Community Services Department, the Sanger Recreation Department and the City of Visalia/ Visalia PAL.
With the help over 1,100 volunteers and representatives of community organizations, nearly 10,000 boys and girls are involved in Junior Giants baseball. Central Valley Junior Giants volunteers will be collecting the new or used glove donations outside any one of Grizzlies Stadiums five gate entrances.
The Fresno Grizzlies Community Fund recognizes the important role athletics play in teaching youth the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, perseverance and commitment. The Grizzlies Community Fund believes that involvement in sports at a young age fosters self-esteem and instills pride and a healthy work ethic.
Junior Giants, the flagship program of the Giants Community Fund, is a noncompetitive recreational program serving youth 5-18 years old, both in the inner city and rural areas of Northern and Central California. Along with the fundamentals of baseball , the leagues stress self-esteem, education, teamwork, and leadership.
