Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
OMAHA â The Omaha Royals return to Lincoln's Haymarket Park for the third annual game on Sunday, May 16 at 2:05 p.m. The Royals won their first contest at Haymarket Park in 2002 by beating Calgary 9-2, but fell in their second game in 2003 in a 3-1 loss to the Oklahoma RedHawks.
Three days before the Royals game, only a few hundred seats remain available for advance purchase. To reserve tickets, fans are encouraged to call ahead to 402-474-2255.
On Sunday, gates to Haymarket Park will open at 1:00 p.m. The first 1,000 fans will receive a Ken Harvey poster. The former Husker first baseman is currently hitting .340 through his first 27 games with the Kansas City Royals this season, which ranks 11th in the American League batting race. Harvey got his first taste of the big leagues in a late call-up in 2001 and spent all of last season with Omaha's parent club. He spent all of 2002 with Omaha, hitting .277 with 20 home runs and 75 RBI, contributing an RBI double in the Royals victory that season at Haymarket Park.
"The interest has really perked up now in our third year of playing a game in Lincoln. It really is a great opportunity to market the team regionally. Hopefully, fans there will see us play and come to Omaha for a game later in the season," commented Doug Stewart, Royals Sr. Vice President and General Manager.
