SAUGET, IL - River City stranded the game-tying run on second base to end the game and Gateway edged the Rascals 6-5 on Tuesday night at GCS Ballpark. A crowd of 4,521 saw the Grizzlies snap their two-game losing streak in the narrow victory.

Down 6-4 in the ninth inning, the Rascals got a run on a Jason Patton RBI single to draw within one. With runners on first and second base and two outs, Grizzlies closer Chris Enourato struck out former Grizzlie Stephen Holdren to pick up his fifth save.

River City (43-16) struck first with a Jareck West two-run second inning homer, his third of the series.

Gateway (25-34) fought back with a run in the second on a Charlie Lisk solo home run. It was the 12th of the season for Lisk.

The Grizzlies took the lead in third, scoring three runs on two hits. DJ Fitzgerald drove in a run on a groundout and Logan Parker doubled home two to make the score 4-2.

The Grizzlies added another run in the fourth inning on the first homer of the season for Chris Sedon.

Gateway took a 6-2 lead in the fifth on a Kent Gerst solo homer, his seventh in 16 games.

The Rascals pushed two runs across in the third on the eighth homer of the season by Chad Maddox, also his second in the series.

Parker, Lisk and Sedon had multi-hit games for Gateway.

Andres Caceres Jr. (1-0) picked up the win for the Grizzlies in his first professional appearance. Caceres surrendered just two runs on four hits in five innings. He struck out two, while walking four.

The Grizzlies begin a six-game road trip with three games against the Evansville Otters starting Wednesday night. Rookie Ryan Juarez (1-1) gets the start for Gateway in game one. First pitch is set for 7:05 CT.
