Last Time Out...

Sean Estand singled in the eventual winning run in the seventh and Erik Lis hit his team leading 11th home run of the season as the Joliet Slammers (33-25) beat the Traverse City Beach Bums (30-29) by a final score of 4-3 Monday night. Trey Manz tacked on a solo homer of his own in the sixth, but Traverse City scored two in the bottom of the frame to tie things up at three. The Slammers broke through in the seventh as David Fox and Josh Flores drew back to back walks. Then Estand singled in Fox to give Joliet the lead for good. Chuck Lukanen got his fourth win of the season, Brian Smith pitched a scoreless eighth and Joliet native Ryan Quigley earned his league leading 18th save. With the win the Slammers remained 1/2 game up on the Windy City ThunderBolts in the East.

For Starters...

Ryne Miller is coming off a strong start on July 21 as he went six innings against Lake Erie, scattering seven hits and surrendering only one run. Give me some relief!

In 18 appearances, Relievers Jeremy Tietze and Chuck Lukanen have combined to go 4-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 20 innings in the month of July.

Excellent Estand...

Plunked!

July is hot...

The Slammers are 14-7 in July, the second best record in the Frontier League behind only the River City Rascals (16-4). The Slammers offense has also been heating up with the weather - they are hitting .293 as a team in their last ten games.

Pitching is the key...

The Slammers have the best team ERA in the East Division at 3.64. The bullpen has been especially good, compiling an ERA of 2.89.

Mr. Clutch...

David Fox is hitting .483 (in 29 AB) with 20 RBI with men in scoring position. Meanwhile Brad Netzel has also stepped his game up in the clutch, hitting .375 in 48 AB with runners in scoring position.
