
Grizzlies sweep Freedom

The Gateway Grizzlies (38-40) completed a three-game sweep of the Florence Freedom (43-38) with a 7-3 win Sunday evening at GMC Stadium.
Matt Powell (6-2) pitched 7 2/3 strong innings for the win. Powell struck out a career-high nine hitters. He allowed two runs, one earned, on five hits. Scott Patterson pitched the final 1 1/3 innings to earn his sixth save of the year. He allowed a run, only his second in 20 innings, on three hits for the night. He struck out three.
Mike Breyman led the charge at the plate. Breyman was 2-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Thomari Story-Harden hit his first home run as a Grizzlie. He was 2-4. Ryan Sullivan was 1-2 with two RBIs.
The Grizzlies welcome in the Mid-Missouri Mavericks to town for a three-game series beginning Monday night. Game time Monday is 7:05 p.m.
