Richmond Roosters News Release

Richmond, Indiana - The Roosters broke their eight-game losing streak Saturday night with a 7-6 win over the Kalamazoo Kings. Justus Kimbrough had four RBI in the game and provided the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth that would seal it for the home team.

The Roosters scored first when Kimbrough crushed a three-run homer to left in the second inning. Kiley Vaughn and Chris DiBlasi both scored on what was Kimbrough's first professional round-tripper. It became 4-0 in the third when Mike Reese scored on a sacrifice fly by Kevin White. Another run was added in the fifth when Miller scored on a double-play ball hit by Mike Reese.

The Kings scored their first run in the sixth when Tim Brown hit a solo home run to right field. Trevor Brown scored in the same inning on a fielder's choice to cut the lead to 5-2. The Roosters got one of those runs back in the seventh on RBI double by Mike Reese, but Kalamazoo netted four runs in the eighth to tie the game at 6-6. Justus Kimbrough came through again in Richmond's half of the eighth with a RBI single down the right field line that scored Joe Rhomberg to give the Roosters a 7-6 lead. Kris Regas (5-4) pitched 1 1/3 innings to get the win and struck out the side in the ninth. Joshua Martin (1-1) threw 2/3 of an inning and took the loss in relief.

The Roosters and Kings will finish the season series on Sunday at 4:35 p.m. (Indiana time) at McBride Stadium. Pat Kohorst (0-0, 3.38 ERA) is scheduled to be the starter for Richmond against Josh Beshears (10-3, 3.47 ERA) of Kalamazoo.
