Grizzlies Rally for 3-2 Shootout Win in Stockton

West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies (29-20-3-5) defeated the Stockton Thunder (27-22-0-6) 3-2 in a shootout Saturday night at Stockton Arena.

Utah battled back down 1-0 and down 2-1 in the third before prevailing three goals to one in the shootout.

Reigning ECHL Goaltender of the Month Igor Bobkov stopped 19 of 21 shots through regulation and three of four in the shootout to improve to 12-5-2-2 on the year.

David Vallorani's team leading 20th goal of the year tied the game at one eight seconds into a four-on-three power-play situation in the first period. Mathieu Aubin won the face-off and setup Vallorani for the blast. The score tied the game at one 14:41 into the first period 10:14 after Stockton took a 1-0 lead 4:27 into the first.

Stockton scored late in the second period to take a 2-1 lead to the third period.

Danick Paquette tied the game at two with 11:38 left in regulation as he buried his 13th goal of the year on a cross-ice pass from Joseph Cramarossa as Brendan Jamison started the play as he crossed the blue line.

Paquette had a goal waved off with just under five minutes left in regulation after his slap shot from the high-slot was disallowed due to interference in the crease.

Three of Utah's five skaters scored in the shootout with Jamie MacQueen, David Vallorani and Phil Mangan all netting goals.

Utah returns to Stockton for games Friday and Saturday next week. Face-off both evenings is at 8:30 p.m.

The Grizzlies return home Wednesday, March 19 for the team's next Wild $2 Wednesday; featuring $2 Hot Dogs, $2 Fries, $2 Soft Drinks, $2 Draft Beers and $5 Student Tickets.

Utah hosts Colorado on Friday, March 21 and Idaho on Saturday, March 22 for Military Night presented by ATK Thiokol.
