Grizzlies Play First Post-Season Games Since 2003

Anchorage, Alaska - Jason Christie's Utah Grizzlies return to the post-season for the first time since 2003 when they visit the Alaska Aces Monday and Tuesday for games one and two of the ECHL's West Division Semi-Finals. Road games in the series will face-off at 9:15 p.m. Utah hosts playoff games Thursday (13th), Friday (14th) and Sunday (16th)* of this week at the E-Center with face-offs scheduled for 7:05p.m. A complete series schedule is located at the bottom of this release.

The Grizzlies, who finished the regular season 36-30-6 during the ECHL's 72 game schedule, recorded their best winning percentage since the 2001-2002 season. The Grizzlies, who have lost nearly 300 man games to injuries this season, had winning streaks of seven and nine game, finishing February with a mark of 10-2-2.

Utah went 4-1 versus Alaska at the E-Center this season, finishing 4-5-1 overall versus the Aces, who just completed the second best regular season in league history.

The Grizzlies are the only one of three new 2005-2006 ECHL teams to qualify for the Kelly Cup Playoffs. The other two new teams, Phoenix and Stockton both finished in last place in their divisions.

Grizzlies Head Coach Jason Christie and Utah forward Trevor Baker were teammates on the 1999-00 Peoria Rivermen who won the ECHL's Kelly Cup.
