Grizzlies Make Trade With Bakersfield

Anchorage, Alaska - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie announced today that the team has acquired veteran forward Joel Irving and rookie defenseman Shawn Thompson from the Bakersfield Condors in exchange for forward Tyler Liebel.

Irving, a 1994 draft pick of Montreal, had seven goals, 18 assists and 62 penalty minutes in 29 games this year with the Condors.

Thompson, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound defenseman, had a goal, two assists and 16 penalty minutes in 21 games with Bakersfield this season.

The Grizzlies open a seven-game road trip tomorrow in Alaska. Face-off is scheduled for 9:15 p.m.
