Johnstown Chiefs News Release
The Chiefs visited North Division rival Toledo on Wednesday, dropping a 4-2 decision at the Toledo Sports Arena despite Radek Smolenak having a two-goal game.
On Friday, Johnstown lost 2-1 at Trenton, with P.J. Atherton contributing a power-play goal.
The Chiefs headed to Wheeling Saturday to face the Nailers, pulling out a 7-1 victory after scoring six power-play goals in the third period.
On New Year's Eve, the Chiefs returned home to beat Toledo 5-2 before a sellout crowd at the War Memorial, with Doug Andress scoring two goals in the second period.
Great Performances:
Radek Smolenak had his second two-goal game of the season at Toledo on December 27.
Doug Andress had two goals vs. Toledo on Dec. 31 for his first two goal game of the season.
Morgan Cey went 2-2-0, stopping 140-of-148 opposition shots, including a 47-save performance at Toledo on Dec. 27.
P.J. Atherton had consecutive multiple-point games, scoring a goal and two assists at Wheeling on Saturday and adding two assist against Toledo on Sunday.

Radek Smolenak scored twice for Johnstown, but Toledo's power-play went 4-for-12 as they downed the Chiefs by a score of 4-2. Morgan Cey made 47 saves, taking the loss.
Dec. 29 @ Trenton (1-2 L)
P.J. Atherton scored a power-play goal for the Chiefs, but Trenton scored two goals thirty seconds apart in the second period to secure the victory. Morgan Cey made 31 saves on 33 shots.
Dec. 30 @ Wheeling (7-1 W)
Six power-play goals in the third period helped the Chiefs cruise to a 7-1 victory at Wheeling. Bryan Nathe had two goals, and Dmitri Tarabrin scored his first goal since returning to the Chiefs. Morgan Cey made 29 saves, earning the win
Dec. 31 vs. Toledo (5-2 W)
Doug Andress scored a pair of goals in the second period, and Adam Henrich potted the game winner as the Chiefs pulled in a 5-2 win on New Year's Eve before a sellout crowd at the War Memorial. Morgan Cey made 33-of-35 saves.
