West Valley City Utah - The Utah Grizzlies (18-9-3-1) defeated the Victoria Salmon Kings 1-0 Friday night at Maverik Center.

"It was kind of a strange game, we didn't really do anything overly special," said Grizzlies Head Coach Kevin Colley. "The guys played real smart hockey and that's what it's all about. Another 18 guys contributed to another win."

J.P. Lamoureux (9-6-1-0) earned his second shutout of the year by stopping all 23 shots that he saw. The win was Lamoureux's second 1-0 shutout win in the last three weeks.

Matt Clarke (4) scored the only goal of the game shorthanded just past the halfway point of the game. Marcus Carroll raced down the ice and dropped the puck to Donovan in the slot, but he was denied by goaltender David Shantz on a great save. Clarke joined the action as well and hacked in the loose puck with three seconds left on the shorthanded situation.

Utah's third ranked penalty-kill went four-for-four and killed a shorthanded situation in the final ten minutes. They also held the Salmon Kings to just six shots in the third period.

Utah completes their home stand Saturday at 7:05 p.m. with Victoria once again.
