Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
TAMPA BAY, Florida - Last night, former Cincinnati Cyclones goaltender Cedrick Desjardins made his NHL debut with the Tampa Bay Lightning, turning aside 27 shots en route to a 4-1 win. He also earned second star honors in the game.
Desjardins, an Edmundson, New Bruswick native, played two seasons for the Cyclones (2006-07, 2007-08) earning a franchise-record 40 wins in the process. In addition to a Kelly Cup title and playoff MVP award in 2008, he set the franchise single-season record for shutouts (5) that year and still ranks second on the All-Time games-played list among goalies (67). A season earlier, Desjardins was selected to represent the Cyclones at the 2007 ECHL All-Star Classic.
He becomes the fifth former Cyclones player to skate in an NHL game, and the second this season. Greg Stewart (2006-07), David Desharnais (2007-08), J.T. Wyman (2008-09), and Mark Dekanich (2009-10) are the other four.
The Cyclones will ring in 2011 tomorrow night in Toledo when they drop the puck with the Walleye at the Huntington Center. Pre-game coverage will begin on CyclonesHockey.com at 6:45pm.
The defending Kelly Cup Champions will return to U.S. Bank Arena on Wednesday, January 12 when they welcome in the Kalamazoo Wings for a 7:30pm face-off. It will be another Wet Wednesday, where fans can purchase $1 PBR and Miller High Life all night long. Discounted ticket packages and single game tickets for the 2010-2011 season are available now.
