Utah Grizzlies News Release
The Situation
The Grizzlies are unbeaten in a season-high five-straight-games, going 3-0-1-1 since December 12. Utah collected four of a possible six points this past weekend traveling through Phoenix and Las Vegas.
Home For The Holidays
The Grizzlies are currently spread throughout the United States and Canada spending the holidays with their friends and family with four full days off. The team immediately started to disperse following Saturday's game in Las Vegas. Christmas night, Kevin Colley will hold an evening practice at the E-Center before the team heads for Idaho immediately following.
Mike Mole Update
Goaltender Mike Mole has now started 24-straight games for the Grizzlies. In three games last week, he stopped 81 of 86 shots for a save percentage of .942 and had a goals-against-average of 1.60. The Utah netminder has allowed three goals or less in six-straight starts as the team has gone 4-2-1-2 in December.
Speaking Of Goaltenders
Nathan Lawson, who started the year 2-0 in Utah, is currently 6-0 with the Grizzlies and Islanders AHL affiliate in Bridgeport. Sunday, in his first action in over two weeks after battling a minor injury, the second-year pro stopped all 18 shots from Lowell to earn a shutout in the Sound Tigers 4-0 win.
Finishing Things Off Late
Utah has outscored the opposition 9-2 in the third period over the last five games.
Wrapping Up The Road Trip
Utah finishes their longest stretch to date away from the E-Center Saturday in Idaho to cap off their four-game road trip. Utah is 2-1-1-2 in their last six games on the road and 2-1-0-1 in Boise this season.
Kinasewich Still Scoring
Utah is unbeaten since captain Ryan Kinasewich returned to the Utah lineup fulltime December 12. Kinasewich has two goals and four assists during that stretch and has 23 shots in his last three games.
Coming Up Saturday
Utah completes their home and home series and six December games with Idaho Saturday at the E-Center. The Grizzlies will be wearing New York Islanders jerseys and the Steelheads will be wearing the jersey of their NHL affiliate, the Dallas Stars.
