Jackals Enter Holiday Break With Win

Gwinnett, GA- The Elmira Jackals journey through the South Division came to a close tonight with a 3-2 win at the Arena at Gwinnett Center in front of a crowd of 4,310. Again David Shantz had to be equal to thirty plus shots while Brian Ihnacak netted the third period game winner.

The Gladiators got on the board first with a shorthanded goal just 1:48 into the first period from Jordan Fox. The Jackals struck right back with Josh Aspenlinds 10th goal of the season at the 5:43 mark. The power play tally was assisted by Pierre-Luc Faubert. The Jackals then took the lead at the 15:17 mark of the first on Joe Grimaldi's first goal of the season. Steve Yetman was credited with the assist.

In the second period the Gladiators tied the game at 2-2 at the 11:33 mark on a goal from Bruce Graham. The second period came to a close with the score deadlocked at 2-2. Gwinnett owned the shot category at 23-6.

In the third period the Jackals would face heavy pressure. Jackals goaltender David Shantz would see a bundle of rubber in the final frame. The Jackals would get the game winning goal thanks to Brian Ihnacak at the 12:05 mark of the final frame. Chris Korchinski and Ben Geelan would get the assists. With the win the Jackals improve to 14-12-0-3 for 31 points. With the win the Jackals lock down fourth place in the North Division and finish their southern swing at three wins and two losses.
