BOISE, Idaho ¾ The Idaho Steelheads (16-11-1-1) will be a little merrier as they begin their Christmas break, coming off a 5-2 win over the Bakersfield Condors (9-14-2-2) Saturday night at Qwest Arena. In The Steelheads took two of three of the three game series, beating the Condors 4-3 on Wednesday and losing 1-3 on Friday.

The Steelheads also jumped a spot in the West Division, moving into second place, following the Victoria Salmon Kings sweep of the Alaska Aces this week. Idaho is six points behind the Salmon Kings and one point ahead of the Aces.

STEELHEADS BECOME STARS FOR MDA

Qwest Arena will have an NHL look on Friday, Dec. 26 as the Steelheads will wear their National Hockey League affiliate authentic Dallas Stars jerseys marking the second Pepsi "Future Stars" Jersey Auction benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Their opponents, the Utah Grizzlies, will don the New York Islanders jerseys.

Fans will have the opportunity to bid on their favorite players' jerseys, which will start at $200 and can be bought outright for $1,500. The players will pose for a photo with the winning fans after Friday's game. The two teams will wear the jerseys again in Utah the following night when the teams face off on Utah's ice giving the Grizzlies the opportunity to auction their jerseys for St. Judes Children's Hospital.

This auction marks the seventh year the Steelheads and Pepsi have teamed up for the MDA. In six years, the auction has raised $64,485.
