Reno Aces News Release
FRESNO, Calif.-Drew Macias reached safely four times and stole his fifth base of the season for Reno, but the Aces failed to light-up the scoreboard, falling 4-0 to the Fresno Grizzlies Saturday night at Chukchansi Park.
The Aces managed to outhit Fresno, 6-to-5, on the evening, but Reno could not manage to push a run across as the Grizzlies evened the four-game series at one game apiece. Macias recorded a single and drew three walks, while Mark Hallberg collected Reno's lone multi-hit effort with a pair of singles.
Reno starter Cesar Valdez (1-2), making his first appearance since being optioned back to Triple-A by the Diamondbacks, was pinned with the loss despite allowing no hits and just one unearned run over three innings of work. Zach Kroenke surrendered three runs on five hits over three innings out of the bullpen before Saul Rivera came on to keep Fresno silent over the final two frames.
Grizzlies hurler Osiris Matos (1-1) picked-up the win, tossing 1.1 innings of hitless baseball in relief of starter Henry Sosa.
The series continues on Sunday night from Chukchansi Park. RHP Matt Torra (3-5, 4.36 ERA) takes the ball for Reno, while Fresno counters with LHP Madison Bumgarner (7-1, 3.12 ERA) First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. PT, and the action can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1450 AM or online at www.RenoAces.com.
