Grizzlies Head to Colorado for Weekend
Published on March 14, 2016 under ECHL (ECHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release
The Situation
The Grizzlies (33-24-3-2) play the second half of their home and home series with Colorado this weekend after the two teams split a pair of games at Maverik Center over the weekend where aggregate scoring finished 7-7 after Colorado won 6-2 Friday and Utah won 5-1 Saturday.
The Standings
The Grizzlies enter the week four points in back of Idaho for first place and with a four point lead over Colorado for second place in the ECHL's West Division with both Utah and Idaho having ten games remaining and the Eagles with 12 games left on the slate. Utah's magic number for clinching their ninth-straight playoff appearance is 19. Every Utah win or Tulsa loss will reduce the number by two.
Ryan Hayes
With two goals in 17 seconds Saturday as Utah built their lead from 2-0 to 4-0, Ryan Hayes has now scored a goal in four-straight games for the Grizzlies. Utah is 19-3-1-1 the last two seasons when Hayes scores. He currently has eight goals and five assists for 13 points in 15 games for Utah since returning from Europe and re-signing with the team. Alex Krushelnyski scored a goal in five-straight games from November 27-December 9.
Seven-Game Scoring Streak
Alex Krushelsnyki has tied a personal season-high and a team season-high with a point in seven-straight games dating back to March 2. He also scored in seven-straight games from January 18-29. The streak is the longest since Ryan Hayes had a ten-game scoring streak from February 20-March 13 of last year.
Power-Play Goal In Five-Straight
The Grizzlies have scored a power-play goal in five-straight games and going 5-for-20 in that stretch; one off of their season high of six from January 18-29.
The Season Series
Going into the final two games of the season series, the Grizzlies are 6-2 against Colorado and 2-1 in Loveland. The Grizzlies have clinched a winning season series against Colorado and their fifth-straight year of going .500 or better against the Eagles since they joined the ECHL.
