Utah Grizzlies News Release
West Valley City, Utah - The Grizzlies knocked the Aeros from the world of the unbeaten on Wednesday night with a 4-3 victory at the E-Center.
Utah started the scoring with a power play goal in the first period off Barrett Heisten's rebound off a Mark Wotton shot. For Heisten it was his first goal of the season.
Utah would score another power play goal in the second period off the stick of Eric Landry. With the score 2-0, the Aeros scored a power play goal of their own from Lawrence Nycholat. The turning point of the game would come at the 15:24 mark of the second period when Houston's Curtis Murphy would be called for a five-minute major penalty for boarding and be given a game misconduct. The Grizz would score one time on the power play, Eric Landry's second goal of the night, and once when each team was skating four aside taking a 4-1 lead into the third period.
Houston would not go away easily as they used a pair of power play goals by Jean-Guy Trudel to pull to within a goal and have a late power play to make things interesting but Utah would hold on to prevail by a goal.
Goaltender Jason Bacashihua won his third straight decision making 33 saves. For the Grizzlies it was their fourth consecutive victory on home ice.
Three Stars: 1. Eric Landry (Grizzlies) 2 goals 2. Jon Sim (Grizzlies) two assists 3. Jean-Guy Trudel (Aeros) 2 goals
Next Game: The Grizzlies will square off against Houston again tomorrow night. Face-off is scheduled for 7:00.
