Gateway Grizzlies News Release

TRAVERSE CITY, MI - The Gateway Grizzlies didn't pick up their first run until the ninth inning and fell for the first time in seven games by the score of 4-1 at Wuerfel Park Tuesday night.

The win for the Beach Bums, who have already clinched the East Division, gave them home field advantage throughout the playoffs by assuring them the best record in the league. The loss snapped a six-game Grizzlies win streak and kept their magic number to clinch the West Division at three.

Chase Burch hit a solo home run in the fourth inning off Grizzlies (54-37) starter Paul Tremlin and Traverse City (61-30) scored three runs on two hits and three Tremlin walks in the fifth to get all of their scoring in two innings.

Tremlin (6-4) took the loss, surrendering four runs on eight hits in six and two thirds innings.

Gateway's offense was quiet with only five hits until the ninth inning before they started to get going. Gateway recorded three hits and scored their only run of the game on a Chris McClendon RBI walk in the ninth, but Rogelio Noris struck out with the bases loaded to end the game.

Antone DeJesus paced the Grizzlies with two hits.

The first-place Grizzlies play game two of their series with the Beach Bums on Wednesday. Right-hander Alex Kaminsky (10-4) makes the start for the Grizzlies. First pitch is set for 6:05 CT.

Playoff tickets are now on sale through the Grizzlies Ticket Office. To get tickets, call 618.337.3000 or go online to gatewaygrizzlies.com.
