
Freedom Dominate to Stay in Playoff Hunt

Florence, KY-The Florence Freedom (52-39) turned in a dominating performance Tuesday night as they rolled past the Normal CornBelterS 9-1.
The Freedom remain tied with the Schaumburg Boomers for the final wild spot with five games to play.
Second baseman Pierre LePage had a season high four hits as he finished 4-5 with 2 RBI's. Catcher Jim Jacquot and shortstop Junior Arrojo each chipped in with three hit performances.
The Freedom led wire to wire against the CornBelters. In the 1st with Drew Rundle at the plate, Arrojo scored from second base on a dropped third strike by catcher Bubby Williams. Jacquot also added an RBI single in the frame giving the Freedom a 2-0 lead.
Jacquot stayed hot on the night with another RBI single in the 3rd extending the lead to 3-0.
In the 4th, the Freedom put away the game as David Harris reached base after he was hit by a pitch. Arrojo then bunted his way on for an infield single. Peter Fatse then roped one off the 1st baseman's glove Ernie Banks Jr scoring Harris for a 4-0 lead. After a pair of RBI groundouts by Eddie Rodriguez and Drew Rundle, the Freedom had a commanding 6-0 lead.
In the 5th, Arrojo got his third and final hit of the night an RBI single to push it to a 7-0 game.
Freedom starter Brad Allen(3-1) was outstanding again in his second professional start. He worked 7 innings allowing 4 hits while striking out 5. The only run the CornBelters got was on an error in the 7th.
With a runner at second base, Sam Judah bounced one to the left side of the infield. Third baseman Stephen Cardullo attempted to cut the ball of but couldn't handle it allowing the run to score. It was an unearned run charged to Allen as he improved to 2-0 since becoming a starter.
The Freedom scored their final runs of the night on a bases clearing two run double by LePage in the 9th.
The Freedom will continue their series in Normal on Wednesday night against the CornBelters. RHP Brandon Mathes(4-0, 3.34) takes the mound for Florence while Normal will have LHP Jacob Liedka(2-12, 4.75) on the hill.
