
Grizzlies Drop Third Straight

CRESTWOOD, IL- The Windy City Thunderbolts scored four times in the first inning Tuesday night and cruised to a 12-1 victory in game one of a three-game series at Standard Bank Stadium. The loss is the third straight for the Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies (27-39) managed just five hits against Windy City starter Ross Stout. Stout tossed seven innings in the win. He struck out 10. It his second consecutive win over the Grizzlies.
Windy City (38-29) roughed up Grizzlies starter Nate Melek. Melek, making his second consecutive start against Windy City, lasted just four innings. He allowed eight runs on 11 hits. He walked one and struck out three. Melek falls to 4-7 with the loss.
No single Grizzlies had more than one hit. Brandon Peters was 1-3 and drove in the only run of the night. His two-out single in the third inning scored Brandon Johnson who had doubled earlier in the inning. Charlie Lisk, Jonathan Quigley and Nate Lape also had a hit each for the Grizzlies.
Bryan Cook paced the Windy City attack. He was 4-4, including a home run, with five RBIs and a pair of runs scored.
The Grizzlies and Thunderbolts will play game two of the set Wednesday night in Crestwood. Game time is 7:05 pm.
