Grizzlies Drop Second in a Row to RiverHawks

LOVES PARK, IL - Rockford scored four runs in the fifth inning and cruised by the Gateway Grizzlies 5-1 Monday night at RiverHawks Stadium. The loss was the second in a row for the Grizzlies.

Rockford (11-17) led 1-0 heading into the fifth inning after scoring a run on a Grizzlies error in the fourth. Rockford plated fours run on five hits and one Grizzlies error in the fifth. Jet Butler highlighted the inning with a three-run homer and Michael Herr picked up an RBI double.

Grizzlies starting pitcher Alex Kaminsky (5-1) fired six innings, giving up all five runs, but only two were earned due to three Gateway (15-14) errors. Kaminsky struck out five and walked one.

The Grizzlies were shutout until the eighth inning when they picked up a run on a two out rally. Chris McClendon walked, Antone DeJesus singled and Case Rigby brought home McClendon for his third RBI of the season.

Jonathan Johnson went 3-for-5 while DeJesus enjoyed a 2-for-4 night for the Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies conclude their three-game series with the RiverHawks on Tuesday. Right-hander Pat Arnold (1-0) makes the start for the Grizzlies. First pitch is set for 7:05 CT.
