LONDON, ONTARIO, CANADA - The London Rippers played the first home game in their franchises existence Friday night and picked up a 4-3 victory over the Gateway Grizzlies at Labatt Park. The loss was the fourth in a row for Gateway.

A passed ball and throwing error on Grizzlies catcher Sam Mahoney allowed a run to score in the eighth inning to break a 3-3 tie. It gave Gateway their third one-run loss of the road trip.

Gateway (2-5) took a 1-0 lead in the first on a John Shelby RBI groundout that scored Jonathan Johnson, who doubled to start off the game.

London (2-5) responded with two in the second and two in the third to take a 3-1 lead on Grizzlies starter, Tim Brown (1-1). Brown went the distance, giving up four runs on ten hits. He struck out four and walked two in the loss.

Down 3-1 in the sixth, the Grizzlies strung together four straight singles to drive in two runs and tie the score. Chris McClendon and Shelby drove in the two runs.

Johnson and McClendon both had multi-hit games while Shelby drove in two runs and Richie Jimenez Jr. picked up his first professional hit.

The Grizzlies resume their three-game series against the London Rippers on Saturday night in Canada. Right-hander Alex Kaminsky will get the start for the Grizzlies. First pitch is set for 7:00 EST.
