West Valley City, Utah - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Colley announced today that the team has acquired forward Jadran Beljo from the Florida Everblades in exchange for Matt Caria.

Beljo, set to make his professional debut Friday as he returns from Europe, attended training camp with the Lake Erie Monsters. He sat out the 2008-2009 season after sustaining an injury in Toronto Maple Leafs rookie camp.

In his final season of junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League in 2007-2008 with the London Knights, Beljo tallied 33 goals and 29 assists for 62 points in 53 games after notching 79 points (36 goals, 43 assists) in 63 games with the Mississauga IceDogs in 2006-2007.

"Jadran will fit our system and team mold well," said Colley. "He is a talented scorer and is definitely excited to get going after a year-long injury."

The Grizzlies return to action Friday and Saturday at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday at 4:05 p.m. to host Las Vegas at the E-Center.

Utah is in their fifth season in the ECHL and their third-straight campaign as an affiliate of the New York Islanders. On September 16, 2009 the Grizzlies announced that they will also be adding up to four prospects this season from the Calgary Flames. Head Coach Kevin Colley returns to the Utah bench this upcoming season after signing a multi-year contract extension on April 20, 2009. Colley, who at the age of 30 is the youngest coach in the ECHL, led the Grizzlies to the playoffs for the third time in four years during his rookie head coaching campaign.
