MacAulay And Young Earn AHL Call-Ups

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, the proud ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League and Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League, announced defenseman Kenny MacAulay (Mick-ALL-ee) has been loaned to the San Antonio Rampage on a professional tryout agreement (PTO) and defenseman Bryan Young has been recalled from the Thunder to Springfield.

MacAulay, 25, was originally signed by the Thunder as a free agent on Dec. 30, 2008 and has been named twice to the National Conference for the ECHL All-Star Game (2008, 2009). He has suited up in 14 games this season for the Thunder, leading the team in scoring among defensemen (tied for third, ECHL) with 11 points (1g-10) and leading all ECHL defensemen with 10 power play points (10 assists).

In 148 career professional games with Stockton and Fresno of the ECHL and Rockford and Portland of the AHL, MacAulay has scored 65points (9g-56a) and posted 216 penalty minutes while adding six points (2g-4a) in 17 career postseason games at the ECHL and AHL levels.

The Baddeck, Nova Scotia native has earned the third recall to the AHL in his career and has suited up in 53 games for Portland and Rockford, scoring 10 points (1g-9a) and posting 48 penalty minutes while adding one assist in five Calder Cup Playoff games.

MacAulay's PTO agreement is on a 25-game tryout basis (maximum) with San Antonio.

Young, 23, was assigned to the Thunder from Springfield on Oct. 7 and recently signed an AHL contract with the Falcons in the summer of 2009. He has appeared in 169 career games in the AHL with Springfield, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Milwaukee, scoring 18 points (3g-15a) while collecting 134 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot-1, 191-pound defenseman was originally selected by the Oilers in the fifth round (146th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft and has skated in 14 games with the Thunder this season, posting 23 penalty minutes.

In 2006-07, Young became the first player in Thunder history to make his NHL debut and in his four-year (2006-10) career, he has suited up in 17 career NHL games with the Edmonton Oilers, posting 10 penalty minutes. Earlier that season, Young skated in 17 games for the Thunder and tallied four assists and 17 penalty minutes.

MacAulay is expected to be available to suit up when San Antonio faces the Peoria Rivermen on Friday, Nov. 20 at 5:00 p.m. and Young is scheduled to be available for Springfield for its next game tomorrow against the Lowell Devils at 4:00 p.m.
