Fresno Grizzlies News Release
Fresno, CA - The Fresno Grizzlies put on a show with the bats Friday night, enough so that it rivaled the post-game fireworks show that 11,569 Grizzlies fans enjoyed following the game.
Behind 13 hits by seven different Grizzlies players, including 11 off of Tacoma starter and losing pitcher Ryan Feierabend, Fresno handed the Tacoma Rainiers a 6-3 loss in the series finale between the two teams. Fresno (65-62) and Tacoma (58-69) split the four-game series at two games each, as well as the season series, with eight wins each.
Fresno starter Chris Begg (10-4) also came through with an impressive performance of his own by matching his season-high in strikeouts this season with six in six and two-thirds innings pitched. With his 10th win, Begg also matches teammate Matt Kinney for most wins on the team, while each trails the Pacific Coast League leader in wins by just one.
Still, the story of the game was the phenomenal performance of Fresno's offense, with the standout performers being the Grizzlies' first two men in the lineup, Justin Leone and Luis Figueroa. Each recorded three hits in the game while combining for three of the Grizzlies' six runs.
Leone hit himself a pair of doubles to go with a single and two RBIs, while Figueroa completed three-fourths of the cycle with a home run, triple and single along with his three runs driven in.
The Grizzlies had four players record at least two hits in the game, while catcher Eliezer Alfonzo's lone hit, a double in the fourth inning, extended his hitting streak to all six games he has played in for the Grizzlies this year.
Saturday's series opening game against the Salt Lake Bees will be stacked with fun for Grizzlies fans, beginning with the year's only appearance by the hilarious ZOOperstars. The Grizzlies will also unveil their much anticipated All-Decade Team with T-shirts for the first 2,500 fans (presented by Scott Brand Products). The Grizzlies will also pay for one lucky fan's power bill and will have a silent auction during the game for the players' game worn jerseys. Fan Feast Weekend continues tomorrow night with the All-You-Can-Eat Section, as a game ticket and unlimited amounts of hot dogs, sodas, popcorn, peanuts, and nachos is only $20.
Only four Grizzlies home games remain and tickets are available at the Chukchansi Park ticket office, over the phone at 559-320-TIXS, or online at www.fresnogrizzlies.com.
