PORTLAND, Ore. - Jeremy Brown and Jorge Piedra each had three hits and three RBIs and Esteban Loaiza pitched six strong innings as the Sacramento River Cats beat the Portland Beavers 8-3 in the finale of a four-game series Friday night at PGE Park.

Loaiza (2-1), making his third start of a major-league rehab assignment, allowed two runs and seven hits in six innings of work to earn his second straight victory.

Robert Woodard (0-1) took the loss for Portland, allowing five runs in an inning-plus of relief after coming on for starter Matt Teague.

Sacramento (74-53) overcame an early deficit to salvage a split of the series against the Beavers. With the win, the River Cats took the season series between the two teams, nine games to seven.

Craig Stansberry hit a solo home run and Luke Carlin had a season-high three hits for Portland (51-76), who had a two-game win streak snapped with the loss.

The Beavers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning against Loaiza, thanks to Stansberry's opposite-field home run and an RBI single by Carlin.

Sacramento stormed back in the fifth, as Brown followed Piedra's RBI single off Woodard with a towering three-run home run onto the left-field boardwalk to give the River Cats a lead they would not relinquish.

The River Cats added a run in the sixth inning and three more in the eighth, capped by Piedra's two-run single.

The Beavers finished the scoring in the eighth on Brian Myrow's RBI double.

Teague, making his second start of the year with Portland, fanned four in four scoreless innings but did not factor into the decision.

Portland continues its eight-game homestand on Saturday with the opening game of a four-game set against the Las Vegas 51s. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
