he Nashville Sounds scored eight unanswered runs and to defeated the visiting New Orleans Zephyrs 8-3 on Friday evening at Greer Stadium in Nashville winning the series three games to one.
The Z's started strong with Fernando Tatis drilling a solo home run in the second inning to give the Z's a 1-0 lead. New Orleans added to the lead in the second inning with a Chip Ambres home run and a Robinson Cancel RBI double to score Chad Hermansen. The Z's led 3-0 until Nashville would send nine batters to the plate in the fourth inning and scored five runs.
Philip Humber had not allowed a hit until the fourth inning and proceeded to throw 37 pitches in the inning allowing five runs on four hits and three walks to suffer his ninth loss of the season. He lasted just three and two thirds innings and took his third consecutive defeat.
The Sounds added runs in the fifth and seventh inning. Seth McClung earned the win pitching five innings and the Sounds bullpen silenced the Z's not allowing a run in the final four innings. The Z's have dropped three in a row and nine of their last 12 games.
