
Grizzies earn season split

Sauget, IL - Gateway scored 7 times in the 7th inning and 7 times otherwise against the ThubderBolts Tuesday night at GMC Stadium in a 14-1 Grizzlies victory. The Bolts have concluded their 9-game road trip at 3-6.
Windy City snared the lead in the 1st inning as Matt Ferrara poked a single to score Clemente Bonilla against Gateway lefty Alex Justus. It was the 3rd time in 4 games that the Bolts plated at least a single run in the initial frame.
In the 2nd, the Grizzlies evened the score on a Mike Breyman solo homer against Windy City hurler Gregg Pleeter. In the 4th, Gateway plated a trio more as Phil Warren scalded an RBI double to send Thomari Story-Harden home. Ben Margalski followed with a 2-run jack against Pleeter to take the tally to 4-1.
The Grizzlies chalked up 3 more solo homers in the 6th versus Pleeter. 12 batters appeared in the 7th to face the Bolts bullpen and 7 scored to create the final.
Justus finished the game for Gateway, his first professional 9-inning victory. He's 3-1 for the year. Pleeter was saddled with the loss. He's 0-3.
The Bolts initiate their final home series of the season tomorrow against the Mid-Missouri Mavericks at 7:05. Lefty Sam Jansen takes to the mound for the Bolts. You can find the entire game tomorrow at WJOB 1230 AM and www.wjobcalpress.com. The pregame show starts at 6:45.
