Gritty Bruins defeat Hartford

Providence, RI -- The Providence Bruins scored two third period goals on Friday night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center, skating to a gritty 3-2 victory over the Hartford Wolf Pack. The win gave the Bruins a season-high three-game winning streak and improved the team's record to 12-10-2-2 (28 points), keeping them tied with the Worcester IceCats for third place in the Atlantic Division standings.

Bruin defenseman Jayme Filipowicz scored his first goal of the season, the game-winner, with 1:06 remaining in the third period. Left wing Andy Hilbert scored his team-leading 12th and 13th goals of the season, including the tying goal at 11:14 of the third period. Hilbert has points (2-4-6) in three straight games, and is now tied for eighth in AHL scoring with 13-14-27 totals in 26 games. Center Patrice Bergeron had an assist in the game, and is tied for 10th in AHL scoring with 10-16-26 totals in 23 games.

Hannu Toivonen stopped 26 shots to improve his record to 9-9-1 on the season.

The Black and Gold visits the Worcester IceCats on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. All the action will be broadcast live on WDDZ AM-550 and online at www.providencebruins.com.

The Bruins return home to host the Binghamton Senators on Sunday, December 12 at 4:05 p.m. Following the game, Bruin players Jay Henderson and Chris Dyment will sign autographs on the Dunkin' Donuts Center concourse behind Section 110.

The Bruins' Toys for Tots collection continues on Sunday. Bruins wives and girlfriends will collect unopened toys in the Dunkin' Donuts Center lobby before both games, to be donated to the Toys for Tots program.
