Aeros recall G Gherson from Quad Cities

HOUSTON, Texas – The American Hockey League's Houston Aeros have recalled goaltender Robert Gherson from the Quad Cities Mallards of the United Hockey League, the teams announced Friday.

Gherson, 21, is 4-4-1 with a 2.50 goals against average and a .917 save percentage in 11 games with the Mallards. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Toronto native was 0-1-0 with an 8.53 goals against average and a .800 save percentage in one pre-season game with the Aeros.

The Aeros signed Gherson as a free agent on September 24. He went 12-21-5 with a 3.17 goals against average in 44 games with OHL Sarnia and Owen Sound in 2003-04. In four junior seasons, Gherson was 69-83-21 with a 3.29 goals against average and a .894 save percentage. Gherson was Washington's fifth-round pick, No. 145 overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

The Aeros play at home next Thursday, Dec. 16 (a 7:05 p.m. Aeros "Happy Hour" event) and Saturday, Dec. 18 (7:35 p.m.) against the Norfolk Admirals.
